Summary of Benefits and Coverage Requirements: In a blog dated 8/18/11, I described the proposed Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) and Uniform Glossary that are required under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA).
The Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS), Labor and the Treasury recently released an answer to a frequently asked question (FAQ) stating that group health plans and health insurance issuers will not be required to comply with the SBC requirements until final regulations are issued and become applicable. It further states that the final rules will set out an applicability date that will give group health plans and insurance issuers sufficient time to comply.
