On Monday, President Trump signed off on legislation that delays the Cadillac tax until 2022. The provision delaying the tax for 2 years was included in the bill that ended the government shutdown.
As a reminder, the Affordable Care Act included a provision for the Cadillac tax, sets forth a 40% excise tax to be levied against group health care plan premiums whenever those plan premiums exceed $10,200 for single coverage and $27,500 for family coverage.
Although this is the second time the Cadillac tax has been delayed, there continues to be Congressional support to actually repeal the tax with legislation (H.R. 173) that was introduced earlier this month.
